Since inception, over 10,000 pupils in Derbyshire’s secondary schools have completed the survey.

The Council wanted to provide young people with cost-effective interventions as early as possible, but needed information about their attitudes towards risk-taking, as the only data previously available was anecdotal, and insufficient.

My Life, My View focused on:

  • Their experiences of risk-taking behaviours
  • What young people were worried about
  • Who they spoke to about their concerns
  • What they did to help with cope with their concerns

The results gave schools across the County a clear picture of what all young people – not just those already known to support services – were dealing with, allowing them to prioritise pupils at most need of support and intervention, and enabling the Council to target preventative strategies and interventions more accurately.

Claire Jones, Public Health Manager, DCC, said:

“The survey fitted into a clear understanding of young people, including the appeal and length of time it took to complete. TTE’s solution delivered strong safeguarding practices, plans to address concerns raised by the questions underpinned by clear communication and project management.”
