Head-First: emotional health and resilience programme for schools

The Head-First programme is an emotional health and resilience programme for primary and secondary schools.

Head-First is designed to:

improve the skills, competencies and confidence of staff
improve access to high quality resources for all school staff
improve the emotional health and well-being of children and young people
develop children and young people’s social and emotional competencies

This programme and associated training allows school staff to deliver in-school support to their pupils, and unlimited access to the Head-First website provides targeted resources for each key stage, including effective lesson plans, support and a targeted intervention programme for at risk pupils.

As it progresses, Head-First enables staff to develop and introduce new concepts, activities and skills as the children transition to adolescence.

Participating schools also benefit from:

an emotional health audit to ascertain the level of need amongst pupils, staff competencies and staff well-being
access to a huge library of PSHE resources, programmes and support
training to deliver effective evidence based universal support to their pupils
training to deliver the Head-First targeted intervention

Head-First was originally commissioned by CYPHP (Children and Young People's Health Partnership), for delivery in all primary and secondary schools in Lambeth and Southwark.
